First, let me set the record straight - I am not a Park Ranger.  The title of “Ranger” evolved by participating in a church security ministry.  The church contained “Forest” in their name and those on the security team were referred as “Rangers.” Thus, the nickname “Ranger Pete” was born.

Meanwhile, my passion for Yellowstone dates back to May of 1981, where upon graduating from college, I drove my 1974 VW Beetle across the country to become a Yellowstone seasonal park employee.  During that summer I quickly contracted “Yellow” Fever and have never been, or wanted to be cured.  I discovered a breathtaking, and spiritual “wonderland” offering escape, solitude and a showcase for some of God’s handiwork.  True, there may more beautiful places in the world, but Yellowstone is different, as it contains a variety of geographic features, any of which, could be a park in its own account: Old Faithful, The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, Lake Yellowstone, Lamar Valley, The Mammoth Terraces, The Norris Geyser Basin, etc.

Over the years, besides visiting the park, I have read, dog-eared over a hundred Yellowstone books, reviewed dozens of park websites, corresponded with authors and park officials, and of course, taken thousands of photographs.  In addition, for years, I have been blessed to escort first-time visitors to experience Yellowstone.  People gave me a wish list and allowed me to create a personalize park itinerary centered around their desires and physical capabilities.  I arranged all the lodging, food, camera rental, car rental and plane tickets.  However, during my visits, I was dishearten to learn that some park visitors, due to poor planning, unwisely tour the park. From that discovery, RANGERPETE.ORG, was developed; a free, informational website designed to assist park visitors, first-timers to park veterans, for an enhanced visit, and to get more rewards for their time and money.

Today, after years of hand’s on experience, the simple dream of helping people tour Yellowstone has evolved into the Ranger PeteTM Yellowstone Itinerary Packets.  Although the format has been upgraded, Ranger Pete’s goal is the same - help make visitor’s Yellowstone adventure the best possible and make sure they want to come back again and again!

I am always glad to help in anyway, as it’s not work, but pure joy.
